Who?
Who? Me? Oh, I couldn't help it. I am my children. "Who? Me?" sounds like something my kids have said when I was trying to find out how orange juice made its way up onto the kitchen ceiling! This must be the place where I tell you a little bit about myself, but you knew that-- it says, "Who?" at the top of the page.
Who? I'm a Mom of 2 enthusiastic children who think that they are smarter than anyone in a 3 mile radius!
What? Homeschool encouragement and advice in under 2 minutes! Who has time? I know I'm looking for it and if you find it, please let me know where it is!
Okay, seriously, when I first started homeschooling, encouragement was hard to come by. From family to strangers, people just didn't get it. And talking to my neighbors about homeschooling was the same as talking to someone from another planet. Thank goodness for my number one fan and seller of the idea of homeschool for our family, my husband. Without him, right now I would probably be complaining about how bad the school system is and not doing anything about it. He encouraged me to step it up a notch and posed the question, "Why settle for less when it comes to our children's education?" He's right.
When? I'm not exactly sure when it happened, but fellow homeschoolers would ask another fellow homeschooler a question and they would answer, "Go ask Tracy, she'll know." AskTracy started out (and is still going) as a column in the OChomeschooling social website. Homeschool families or families that were interested in homeschooling would write me a letter with questions on just about anything to do with, yep, you guessed it, homeschooling. I have a passion for encouraging families and helping them connect to the place where they want to be in the homeschool community. AskTracy is all about encouragement and perspectives and was started in my little nook off the kitchen in November, 2009.
Where? In the nice warm weather of southern California. But sometimes my mind wanders back to my roots in Hawaii, just in case you're wondering what's up with all those Hawaiian words!
Why? I'm here to encourage, inspire, and remind you that you picked homeschool for a reason. What ever that reason may be, we all need someone who understands. We need to know that we really can make a difference in our children's future. That's where AskTracy can help, positive reinforcement for your day. Remember, I do this just as much for you as I do it for me. I still can recall the first time my husband said the word, "homeschool" and my mind went blank. Really... it did! And you know what? It STILL goes blank after a day of remembering what class is when and who goes where and how did that OJ get on the ceiling? Ahhh, well, I think the orange juice will remain a mystery, but there will be no mysteries here in what I'm trying to do.
Mahalo! Thank you for stopping by. If I made you think just for a second about the important job that you are undertaking, then I did what I was supposed to do. TM : )
